Putting one’s art on objects such as mugs and mouse pads has been around for a some time. While at my framers recently he showed me a line of “artful” coasters he was offering. Thought it was a pretty cool idea and I’d love to know what you think? Please leave me a message under comments. Thanks!
I recently came across some digital collages done a few years ago. It was great fun using Photoshop to create what I call “memory collages”. Since the anniversary of my father’s passing is coming up soon, and an uncle just turned 92, I thought I’d share a few of these.
Here is my Dad with my daughter at 18 months planting bulbs.

Where does the time go?

Happy New Year everyone!
Welcome to my blog! This is the first post for the new year. If you have seen my website you know that I am an artist educator who has taught for 35 years. In thinking back over 2013 in terms of my teaching I decided to share an exciting project that my students finished right before winter break. It’s called a tunnel book. I learned about these books from watching Building Skills in the Arts with artist educator Ann Kresge.
Her video can be seen here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJgLfps6_lU.
Here is a photo of a demo I made to show my students. I used one of my imaginary animal illustrations and cut it into a foreground, middle ground and background. If anyone has tried making tunnel books I’d love to hear about your experiences.
